Blood in Urine - The Third Story

The reason I chose Good Kangan Hospital is because it’s close to my home, and since my kidneys didn’t have any special issues, I thought of getting a urology exam.

Around that time, I did a lot of searching online, and I came across a story where someone had hematuria (blood in the urine), went to the hospital for tests, and was told there was no problem. However, after 1-2 years, the hematuria continued, and they also started experiencing pain, so they went back to the hospital and were diagnosed with bladder cancer, which led to the removal of their entire bladder. After reading that, I really wanted to get a thorough check-up.

I found out that the urology department at Good Kangan Hospital is well-regarded. When I saw the doctor, I told them the same things as before: I’ve been taking vitamin C consistently for about 10 years, I recently started taking spirulina, and I’ve been exercising more lately.

The doctor told me that I’m still young, so there’s not much to worry about, but just in case, they recommended an X-ray and a CT scan.

After the consultation, I immediately had the X-ray, took a contrast agent, and waited for my turn to do the CT scan. After taking the contrast, I felt my body warming up, which the doctor confirmed was a normal reaction. After the CT scan, the doctor looked at the results and said it seemed like a kidney stone was descending. However, since the stone wasn’t large, it would take some time to pass naturally, and that’s likely the cause of the hematuria.

I was relieved, but I wanted to make sure about any other possible issues, so I asked about a bladder endoscopy, just to avoid any future regrets. The doctor said I could schedule it, so I went ahead and made the appointment.

After researching more about bladder endoscopy online, I found that there are two types. The first is a rigid endoscope, which doesn’t bend, so the pain during insertion through the urethra can be intense. Just imagining it made me think it would hurt a lot. The second type is a flexible endoscope, which bends and is much less painful compared to the rigid type.

When I asked if Good Kangan Hospital offered the flexible endoscopy, they told me that they only use the rigid type.

Since I was afraid of the intense pain from the rigid endoscope, I looked for other hospitals offering the flexible type, and I found that Busan Samyuk Hospital does. So, I decided to go there.
